Application

Boric acid is meant to be used in the chemical industry, glass and ceramic’s production, medicine and other industries.

Depending on the application boric acid is available in four grades: for optical glass, A, B and C. The product branded «for optical glass» is used for optical glass and other special purposes. Grade A product is used for electrolytic capacitors, grade B product — for glass, optical glass, medicine, and other purposes, grade C product — for glass, enamels and glazes, drills, fertilizer and various other boron-containing products.

Safety requirements

Boric acid is fire and explosion-proof. It is a substance of the 3rd level of danger for the human body.

Packing

Boric acid is packed in four or five-layer paper or plastic bags, as well as in special soft disposable containers.

Shelf life

5 years from a manufacturing date.

Basic properties and hazards

Basic properties

Fine crystallized flowing powder of white colour.

Explosion and fire

Fire- and explosion-proof.

The risk to humans

Vapor and spray mist of boric acid get inhaled into the human body.
When dissolved in water, boric acid penetrates the damaged areas of human skin (eczema, cracks, burns), causing poisoning of the human body.

Individual protection means

When working with boric acid the people should use the respiratory protective equipment, wear goggles to protect eyes, gloves to protect hands, as well as special clothing and footwear.
