Obtaining

Technical silica gel is dried silica gel. It has a porous structure with a highly developed internal surface.

Technical silica gel is obtained by reacting sodium silicate with sulfuric acid or aluminum sulfate containing free sulfuric acid, followed by washing and drying of the resulting product.

Application

Technical silica is used as an adsorbent for drying and purification of air and other gases or vapors, for drying and purification of some liquids, as a carrier for catalysts for other purposes.

Depending on the application technical silica grains are produced in granular and lump form. The product is also graded depending on the porosity of the structure (pore radius, specific volume and specific surface of the pores) — finely porous and macroporous.

Granular fine-pored silica gel is available in two grades:

  • IBC — large,
  • SHSMG — charge.

Coarse-granular silica are available in four types:

  • KSKG — large,
  • SHSKG — charge,
  • ICDL — small,
  • ASKG — activated.

Lump fine-pored silica gel are available in four types:

  • PSMA — large,
  • SHSMK — charge,
  • MSIC — small,
  • ASMK — activated

Fine-pored silica gel produced with the addition of the hardening of aluminum oxide: xSiO2 • yAl2O3 • nH2O

Safety requirements

Silica is fire-and explosion-proof, the degree of impact on the body is a substance third risk class.

Packing

Technical silica gel is packed in special soft containers of single use, in plastic bags or in a plastic bag inside, put into paper bags. It can also be packed in five-, six-layer paper bags.

Guaranteed shelf life

1 year from date of manufacture.
